Hello, my name is Star Grieser and I’m the director of testing for the Center for the Assessment of Sign Language Interpretation. I just wanted to give all of you a few short and sweet updates on what we’ve been doing so far and what to expect coming up. We’ve been working very hard to get our new testing system ready for our candidates. You may remember a while ago we announced that we were contracting with uSked to build our new test delivery platform, the CASLI Exam System, for us, that matches our specific testing needs. They’ve built the system and it looks very nice! Beta Testing of CASLI Exam System begins on October 4th for a month. We’re recruiting 36 people to assist with this beta testing and if all goes smoothly, all the bugs are worked out, the new CASLI Exam System will be launched for general registration at the end of October/beginning of November. We’re working hard to get this ready for you. I know many people are anticipating the release, but we will post the information on social media and directly email candidates with more information directly once we’re ready to launch.
People often ask us if the new CASLI Exam System will be administering the new CASLI Performance Exam or the current NIC Interview and Performance Exam. To clarify, our NIC Interview and Performance Exam is still within it’s Test Life Cycle and we will be launching that NNIC IP on the new CASLI Exam System this fall. The new CASLI Knowledge and Performance exams are nearing completion but are still being developed. When those are ready in early 2020, then they will be added to the CASLI Exam System.
At the same time, we’re working to get the CASLI Exam System ready, our new Testing Coordinator, Sean, has been working on building the Local Test Administrator network ready for our candidates to take their NIC Interview and Performance exam this fall! He has a separate message for all of you! Look for that!
We also want to make people aware that we are also transferring payment method to the new CASLI Exam System and now payment for the NIC IP can no longer be made through RID’s member portal. People who try now to pay for the NIC IP through RID’s member portal will be blocked from doing so. Right now, please bear with us as we transition between the payment systems from RID’s Member Portal to the new CASLI Exam System. HOWEVER, NIC Knowledge, and CDI Knowledge Exam payment is still through* RID’s Member Portal until we move the exams over to the new system within the coming weeks and months.
So that’s what CASLI has been up to! We’ve been working hard at getting the CASLI Exam System ready for you, also, we’re continuing our work on test development for the next iteration of the exams, and we’re also working on our local test administer network. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns any time, but do understand we’re working hard so our responses may be delayed. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Have a great day!
